Nestled along the picturesque shoreline of St. George Island, Harry A's Bar & Grill is a vibrant local hotspot that effortlessly blends a welcoming atmosphere with a lively bar experience. This beloved establishment has recently embarked on a new chapter under fresh ownership, bringing renewed energy and warmth to its patrons.
Harry A's offers a delightful array of Southern-inspired sides that perfectly complement its drink selections, including crispy French fries, flavorful red beans & rice, buttery corn on the cob, creamy gouda grits, herb-roasted potatoes, steamed veggies, and refreshing side salads. For those with a sweet tooth, the menu shines with indulgent treats like the “Elvis A Rockstar”—a decadent fusion of peanut butter, cream cheese, Nutella, banana, and toasted marshmallow that’s as comforting as it is inventive—and classic New Orleans beignets, golden fried and dusted with confectioner’s sugar, promising a perfect finish to any evening.
The true charm of Harry A's, however, lies beyond the menu. Customers repeatedly praise the vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere—described as clean, bright, and buzzing with good energy. The live music, often featured in a cozy back area, elevates the evening with perfectly curated sounds that complement both intimate gatherings and lively group outings. Guests like “Sunshine Shirah” highlight the genuine hospitality of the staff, from attentive bartenders like John who engage warmly with guests, to thoughtful waitresses like Kit and Laura who go out of their way to ensure every visit feels special. The friendly vibe extends even to the security staff, adding an approachable, community-focused layer to the experience.
While some visitors have noted transitions in management and occasional adjustments to the food service—early evenings might find the bar serving expertly crafted drinks while the kitchen settles in—the overall sentiment celebrates the genuine care reflected in every interaction and offering. Whether stopping by for a cold beer, enjoying a flavorful “Justice Burger” layered with the unexpected delight of peanut butter and jelly, or unwinding with a cold shrimp appetizer, Harry A's strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and spirited hospitality.
Ideal for everything from a lively girls' night out to a laid-back dinner by the bay, Harry A's Bar & Grill invites you to experience the warmth of St. George Island hospitality paired with soulful flavors and memorable music. It’s a place that feels like an extension of the community itself — friendly, fun, and undeniably inviting.
Fantastic atmosphere! The new owners are fabulous, the general manager is completely accommodating, Kit is the best waitress, the back security is friendly and fun, and the live music is perfect! We (8+ ladies) take a girls trip every year and we are so grateful for everyone at Harry A’s for making us feel welcome. Kudos to the new owners and bonus points for their mom for letting me pet her adorable chihuahua #beautifulcrazy #GGW
They did not serve food there when we visited. I was excited to eat there because Google showed a good menu, but apparently, the place changed management, and everything was still being situated. Even so, we went there, and the manager was super welcoming and made us drinks himself. They had a live band setting up that is supposed to be playing Thursday nights to attract customers. The band was great! Great vocals and instrumentals. It was well worth it to stay and drink there for the night. The drinks were good too. Nothing watered down. If they ever get food and have more live music I would love to frequent the place.
Stopped in on a late Saturday night. We were greeted right away. Sat at the bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Very clean and bright. John, the bartender, was attentive and very nice. Engaged in conversation. We ordered a half pound steamed shrimp as an app. The flavoring was amazing. The beer was cold. Had live music in the back area. Stays open late. Will return for dinner another day.
Great atmosphere, yummy oysters, delicious dragon shrimp tacos, and friendly staff! Thanks to Laura for taking such great care of us. We'll be back! Adding another review as the restaurant has changed ownership. We visited the island in November for our anniversary and one of our first stops the morning after we arrived was Harry A's. We enjoyed the Bloody Mary bar and the fried green tomato appetizer. We had planned to order more, but our goldendoodle chewed through her leash and we had to cut our visit short. We went back on our last morning there and had the grouper sandwich and it was yummy. I didn't get many photos of food as we were hungry but don't miss out on this place. Next time we go I plan to try the smash burgers.
Stopped in for dinner and ordered the Justice burger. It came out pretty quick and had great flavor, love how well the PB&J pairs with a cheeseburger. The onion rings were good too. Also ordered a margarita which had very little alcohol in it and was just the mix. Our server was great and very friendly, however, the same can’t really be said about the hostess. She didn’t say anything to us and just say our menus down and left. Overall, I’d consider coming back, but maybe only do takeout.
Fun spot out on St George. We’ve been here several times and not been disappointed. The bar is small but cozy. We ordered a bit of everything for NYE. My favorite was the étouffée. The dragon shrimp app was really good. The fried shrimp was good as well. They have a large outdoor area for live music. Dog friendly. Service was great.
A cool, divey place to check out on the island! My husband and I split the dragon shrimp tacos which were tasty but could have used a sauce. I had the black and blue salad which was very good but the dressings were not very good. It could have been great with a homemade dressing. My husband had the burger and was pleased with it. The live music and ambiance make it a place to check out!
We was immediately greeted and told we could sit where we wanted. The waitress was right over and took our order. I asked for recommendations and she did a great job getting me what I enjoyed. Our food and drinks both came quick. Great friendly service. My husband got the smoked wings and said they were very good. I got the onion rings and chicken strips. Loved the onion rings, the chicken strips were ok. Not bad, just ok. We will stop in again.
